RE: 3.73 to 4.10's

Did the change out on my 02 1500hd 4x4. I ordered the gears online and had a local dealer do the install. Right at 1500 total cost. Sure made a big difference towing. Mike

RE: Modifications to 2500HD D/A

Weigh your truck, if yours in a 4x4 like mine you will be surprised. You fill the truck with fuel and yourself, nothing else, and you have about 1800lb to deal with before going over the GVWR. Good luck. I don't overload my truck without doing it by accident. Mike

RE: Check Your Tire Valves - 30 Million Recalled!

Just how could a bad valve cause a roll over in an SUV? Self inflicted. "Oh dang, something is wrong." Stomp brake. Yank steering wheel hard over to get to shoulder quickly. Road rash on roof. The above sequence occurs easily in the absense of vehicle handling knowledge which is excessively rampant. I guess. I have had complete blow outs that didn't cause roll overs and a valve steam blowing is NOTHING compared to a blow out. Mike

RE: Bridgestone Tire - comments

The Firestone scandal kinda took care of that. I would say that was really a Ford Scandle. I had a 98 chevy truck with Goodyears on it. One exploded going down the highway. I took it to the local garage and they told me to put it with the rest. Goodyears did the exact same thing on the Chevys, only thing was, Chevy stayed upright and the Fords where flipping. Every auto manufacturer out there put cheap tires on at the factory. You always knew you would have to replace them faster than the ones you put on later. Mike

RE: Towing mirrors for GMC 2500HD

On my 02, I went to the dealership and purchased an OEM manual extending mirrors for pretty cheap. (Just how often do you actually need to adjust the mirrors anyway?) and I loved them. Tried all the JUNK stuff that strap to the factory mirrors and as stated, they are junk. Mike

RE: Airlines going bust

Let's see, the cheapest large airline in the country, Southwest, didn't get the memo last quarter that the airlines where to all show a loss. They actually posted profits. Now, there's a CEO that could actually justify a bonus. Mike

RE: Hnda Generator, why do I need the Quiet Inverter model

If you don't camp near others, get the chepo. I have used a contrator genny for a few years of camping during deer season. That was on my own land at least a quarter mile from the nearest house. It ran all night long every night. TV goin, and electric heaters with no proplem. I slept well inside also. I used a 30 amp extension cord and got the genny as far from camp as the two lengths would allow on the back side of the tt. There is no way that I would use this in a campground with others around though. Of course, if I go to a campground, I want full hookups. Mike

RE: 4" Bumper Weight Limit

My 04 Jayco said 100lbs. I hated to see the tire mounted to it because of how flimsy it is. Mike

RE: Sold on Dodge Mega Cab...

I was close to going with the diesel, but the extra cost and difference in gas mileage was not enough to make it economically feasible. I figured it would take about 10 years to make up the difference in mileage. So not true. The mileage on a diesel is so much better compared to the Hemi that it is shameful. Have towed with a Hemi and a CTD and no need to comment any further. As to the price difference. Not true either...especially compared to the Hemi. In addition, the price difference is made at resale every time. I'm thinking you haven't priced used diesels lately, much less used trucks. That and the new emissions regulated diesels aren't getting all that much better mpg than my gasser empty. The old 5.9L on the other hand was very impressive in my FIL's old 2500 Ram. His 6.7L has disappointed him in the mpg department so far. Don't get me wrong, he loves the Megacab and the refinement of the 6.7L, but just expected better mpg numbers than he is seeing. To the poster who mentioned lack of comfort, I too think you are confusing a Quadcab with a Megacab. The Mega has so much room you can recline the rear seats and is cavernous compared to my Titan CC which had one of the largest CC's in 05. My best friend has a Quadcab 2500 and the roominess is bad. His 1.5yo son sat in his carseat behind me and for him to have room for his feet my knees were almost touching the dash. I am 6'3". This same situation would not have even been an issue in my truck or a Megacab. Nope, not confused. I rode in both the same week. I hated both. Sorry, it's not a GM, Dodge, Ford thing, I was just uncomfortable and have rode in the back seat of mine and I feel it rides better. Now, the new GM's, I think are WAY too stiff of seats. Mike

RE: Sold on Dodge Mega Cab...

Don't let the looks of the Mega Cab fool you. Set in the back and see just how UNcomfortable that back seat is. I rode an hour in the back of an 08 a couple months ago and couldn't wait to get out of it. Mike sorry I do not agree either. It's the only vehicle I have had where I have never heard complaints from the back seat... Bryan Just saying, try it out. Don't let the looks fool you. The seat just did not come far enough under the knees and I hated the way it felt. I have had others agree. To each their own. It is going to feel different to every person that sits in it. Plus, getting out of the back seat was a pain. Where the front door meets the back door is just in the wrong spot. After you have tried the mega, if you like it, then it is for sure the truck for you. Just not for me and some others. Mike
